Nutrition Counseling

Nutrition Counseling is provided by a registered, licensed dietician at the center. The goal of nutrition counseling is to help a person make and maintain dietary changes. For a person with a HIV, dietary change may be needed to promote healthier eating, to adopt a therapeutic diet, prevent and correct HIV wasting, decrease obesity, decrease high cholesterol or to avoid nutrient-drug interactions. There may be other co-existing diseases such as congestive heart failure, diabetes or hypertension that may need dietary intervention.
